Victoria’s best country swimmers will converge on the Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre from Saturday to compete at the 2012 Victorian Country Short Course Championships. Hosted by the Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association, the Championships are expected to attract over 400 athletes and their families from across country Victoria.
This is the second time in four years that the Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association has hosted the Championships and President Anthony Foley is excited that the District has once again been given the opportunity to showcase the Rural City of Wangaratta.
"It’s a great boost for swimming in this region that we can host such a fantastic event. The town’s local businesses should also benefit from the Championships, with families expected to enjoy many of Wangaratta’s restaurants and services,” said Foley
Swimming Victoria’s Events Coordinator Simone Hutson believes this year’s Championships will be one of the hottest contested Championships in recent memory.
“With over 35 country swimming clubs coming together to compete at one of regional Victoria’s best indoor facilities, we expect some quick times to be swum.”
The 2012 Victorian Country Short Course Championships will consist of 81 events conducted over 2 days.
