470 athletes from across Victoria will compete at the Victorian Open Short Course Championships this weekend which will consist of 57 events conducted over two days at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Four-time gold medallist at last year's FINA World Cup Series in Europe, Rachel Goh, will headline the field as she looks to continue her impressive short course form.
“Short course swimming is all about starts, turns and underwater skills, and to be able to work on these details against the state’s best is extremely important leading up to the Australian Short Course Championships in Perth,” said Goh.
Other swimmers to feature include 2008 Beijing Olympian Ashley Delaney, World Championship and Commonwealth Games medallist Sarah Katsoulis, 2011 vicsport junior athlete of the year Nicholas Groenewald and 2008 Paralympian Jeremy Tidy.
Races are conducted in a 25m pool and the championships provide an excellent opportunity for Short Course specialists to claim a Victorian Title.
